Training for young managers to facilitate the start of their careers
ICAN First-Time Manager™ is a training course for entry-level managers who are taking their first steps in their careers. It helps you find your way in your new role and gain confidence in your managerial position. The training equips you with a strong foundation of knowledge and competencies necessary for any manager in the areas of self and team management, communication, motivation, the role and tasks of a manager.
Is your career gaining momentum? Or are you a boss and have such people in your team or want to promote someone? The training will give the participant a good start in his or her career, and the company confidence that the newly appointed leader will perform in his or her role. To date, ICAN First-Time Manager™ has helped successfully develop the careers of as many as 4,000 managers.
What problems and mistakes of young managers are solved by training
According to research, between 40% and as many as 70% of newly appointed managers fail management expectations and lose their positions within the first 24 months. Why does this happen? There are mainly three factors contributing to a young manager's disaster:

Lack of necessary management skills
Often the best specialist on the team is promoted to the position of manager without being properly prepared for the new role. Lack of knowledge of basic management tools most often makes itself known in the first weeks of work: through decision-making errors, incompetent division of tasks in the team, and neglect of one's own duties as a result of poor time management.

Difficulties in interpersonal relations
The promoted employee becomes a boss to recent co-workers. He himself is also accountable to his new superior. The new position in the organizational hierarchy is conducive to conflicts with both the subordinate team and with equal and senior managers.

Professional burnout
With promotion, expectations of the employee change. A reorientation of thinking is necessary: from individual influence on the results achieved to the realization of goals through the team. The inability to cope with the new type of responsibilities in extreme cases ends up frustrating the manager, who tries to carry out the tasks of the whole team on his own.

The ICAN First-Time Manager™ development program is designed for people taking their first steps in a management career. It discusses the most important basics of being a manager, so you will learn what the role of a team leader is, the key tasks and skills of the position, and what expectations colleagues most often have of leaders. You will master the key competencies of a manager at this stage of your career: managing a team, delegating tasks, communicating within a team and with other managers, motivating and engaging. The training will prepare you for the situations you will encounter as a novice leader and allow you to avoid typical mistakes at the beginning of your career. That's less stress and unpleasant surprises at work for you!
ICAN First-Time Manager™ focuses primarily on practice. We limit theory to the bare minimum and the most important management concepts that form the basis for successful management. Participants practice new skills in practice, such as in group and individual exercises, and receive feedback from trainers on an ongoing basis. In the training materials, you will find many examples of specific tools, methods and ready-made templates (e.g., a difficult conversation with an employee or a manager's credo) to apply at work immediately after the training.
Yes, as part of our training for entry-level managers, you will receive access to a knowledge portal containing additional materials, including online training modules and content from our business magazines. Access to the knowledge portal is valid for the duration of the training and 12 months after the training - you can then use the materials whenever you want and on any device.
As a trainee, you receive a guarantee that allows you to cancel after 1 session (2 class days) and receive a 100% refund if at that time you feel the training does not meet your expectations. You can also change to another program that is better suited to your needs.
